The Jäger (“The Hunter”) offers the citizens of Plasselb and the canton of Freiburg an “on-call” restaurant, a beautiful vaulted cellar, a workshop and training room, a co-working space, company services and several apartments.
The former restaurant and hotel “Zum Jäger” stands on the foundations of the old cellar from 1873. It was rebuilt in 1978 and after extensive renovations in 2020, we are now excited to offer a new concept for the Jäger.

In Plasselb since 1873
The Jäger provided Plasselb and its visitors with space for events and unforgettable experiences for 150 years.
The Jäger was the starting point for the famous „Alpaufzug“ (alpine procession of cattle) and the centre of the local cattle market of the goat cooperative Plasselb. It offered the local farmers the „regulars‘ table“ after the Sunday service and was among other things known for the concerts of the Plasselb music society in the attic (from 1944), for the alleged „sauerkraut water“ (adulterated wine) and brawls between the French and German speaking Swiss in the 1950s (25 guests were therefore allowed to visit the regional court). After a period of traditional operations as a restaurant, the Jäger has been reborn in 2020.
In the Freiburg Prealps
The Jäger is located in Plasselb (next to Plaffeien) between Freiburg, Düdingen and the Schwarzsee in the beautiful Freiburg Prealps.
You can reach Plasselb by car in 25 minutes from Freiburg, 20 minutes from Düdingen and 45 minutes from Bern. Within 20 minutes you are at the well-known and romantic Schwarzsee.
The bus stop is also directly at the Jäger (line 129). There are international airports in Bern-Belp (60 minutes) and Geneva (100 minutes).
The Restaurant
The restaurant concept for the Jäger is still in development. You can, however, rent the stylishly renovated Jäger for your functions – with or without catering/meals – for a customer event, a company function, a club function, a birthday party, a wedding or a meeting with friends for 10-60 people.
Please note that the types and times of use are limited out of consideration for our residents and neighbours.
The Vaulted Cellar from 1873
With the renovation in 2020, the vaulted cellar with a separate entrance was opened to the public. You can rent the vaulted cellar for an aperitif and small meetings.
Workshop and Training Room
The Jäger has a workshop and training room with many breakout areas for group discussions, guest WiFi, flip charts as well as a data projector and a large 16:9 screen. You can rent the Jäger for your workshops and training events with or without catering services.
The Terrace
For sunny days, the Jäger has a terrace with a view towards the beautiful, heritage listed houses in the village centre. The terrace is at your disposal if you rent the restaurant, the vaulted cellar or the workshop/training room.
Co-Working in the «Jäger»
